About this deal
Samuel lived next door when we were children. We were inseparable. But he didn’t like sharing me with my adored little brother. And one terrible night, he got rid of my brother forever… Rose’s story is told through the past and present and we learn of “The Mistake” she made and the guilt she carries. We could feel the weight of guilt and the loss that she carried allowing us to question “The Mistake” for ourselves. We recommend this with caution as some readers could find it upsetting.

Slater tells the story in two timelines, the present and the time leading up to Billy’s death. Of course, there are a few possible killers, one being evident. But Slater always has surprises up her sleeve. There are twists and turns. You can’t help but becomes emotionally involved in the story. Will Josie forever be known as the murdered boy’s sister and mother of the kidnapped girl? Will the evil event pass “through the generations like an ill wind” or will Josie be able to press pause and rewrite Ivy’s future? The Narrator is twisty and gripping, a story that gets the blood pumping. Another keep you guessing till the end story from the Queen of Twist! Rose regrets the day she met Gareth Farnham sixteen years ago. Her first boyfriend, he weasled his way into her life gradually controlling every aspect of her life. She had no idea that he would totally destroy her hopes and dreams, her family and best friend, leaving her a fearful, lonely woman. She has always blamed herself for all that happened, but now sixteen years later she discovers something that totally changes everything she believed happened all those years ago.
The Girlfriend: An utterly unputdownable psychological
Now, sixteen years after Billy's death, Rose is living a quiet, mundane, not-so-happy life. She has little fun and no friends - except for her elderly, next-door-neighbor Ronnie.Kim is the number one bestselling author of sixteen psychological crime thrillers. She has sold over two million copies of her books worldwide. She has also written four Carnegie-nominated Young Adult novels as Kim Slater for Macmillan Children’s Books. Kim has an MA in Creative Writing and lives with her husband in a small Nottinghamshire village. It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.

Global bestselling author Philippa is married to Flo and appears a manuscript has suddenly reappeared. A secret book? Where did it come from? The 10th in the series will be published even though the author is MIA. She wrote her first book in the series at age 41 and is now a vast success nine books later. I was gifted this advance copy by K.L. Slater, Bookouture and NetGalley and was under no obligation to provide a review.
Samuel had been obsessed with Josie…always watching from afar, and didn’t like sharing her with her little brother. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller from beginning to end. It definitely keeps you guessing and wanting more!
