It belongs to a group of medicines called anti-foaming agents.

Also tell them if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet: Simeticone (or simethicone) is a type of medicine called an antiflatulent. It's used to treat farting (flatulence), trapped wind and bloating, although we cannot be certain if it really works for these symptoms.
Aluminum Hydroxide and Magnesium Hydroxide which are antacids to reduce stomach acid which help relieve the symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. This medicine should not be used if you are allergic to one or any of its ingredients. Please inform your doctor or pharmacist if you have previously experienced such an allergy. Hypophosphatemia is an electrolyte disturbance in which there is an abnormally low level of phosphate in the body. This may occur at high doses of the product or even at normal doses especially in patients with low phosphorous diets Children aged 2 to 5 years should be given one 5ml spoonful no more than three times a day, 20 minutes to one hour after meals or at bedtime, as needed to relieve symptoms.

Each bottle contains the following active substances in each 5ml of suspension: 230mg of dried aluminium hydroxide gel, 200mg of magnesium hydroxide and 25mg of simeticone Antacids such as aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide can reduce the absorption of many other medicines from the gut, which may make the other medicines less effective. If you are taking any other medicines, get advice from your pharmacist before taking this antacid. Antacids should preferably not be taken at the same time of day as any other medicines. In general, any interactions can be avoided if you do not take this antacid in the two hours before and after taking any other medicine.You have kidney problems. Long term exposure to high doses of Maalox Suspension can lead to dementia. This medicine is available without prescription. However, you still need to use Maalox Plus carefully to get the best results from it.
