The Instant Pot app also has more than 1,000 recipes to choose from, but none seemed particularly appealing.When sautéing, we loved how the Instant Pot had three temperatures to choose from: less, normal, and more.

The delay start comes in handy if you want to get your dish prepped and ready but don’t want it to start cooking quite yet. We loved this feature for preparing oatmeal the night before so it was ready when we woke up. The Instant Pot allowed us to delay cooking by 10 minutes up to 24 hours. However, we can’t think of a time when we’d want our food sitting in the pot for 24 hours before cooking—certainly not if we were cooking anything with meat or dairy. This Instant Pot has its temperature and pressure sensors dialed in, resulting in precise results when cooking. With similar styling to the Instant Pot, Tefal’s impressively affordable all-in-one cooker excels in a lot of areas. We’re particularly fond of its pressure cook and steaming functions, but it also does a whole host of other things including slow cooking, rice steaming, baking and browning. Rather unusually, this multi cooker also has its own one-touch function for warming and preparing baby food, which is very neat.

It doesn’t offer you the 13 dfferent cooking programs or the convenience of 7 items. Instead, you will have to stand by the instant pot throughout the cooking period despite setting a time. If you go for this item, washing the pot will be far more challenging, and it requires a higher wattage of 1500 watts than the Instant Pot Duo 7-in-1.

We were very impressed with the level of detail in the full-color user manual. It was very informative and even listed the psi for each pressure level and the temperatures equivalents for the less, normal, and more sauté functions. Of all the brands we tested, Instant Pot had the clearest explanation of how its pre-set programs work. No matter how large your family or how big your needs are, the Duo comes in the right size for you. When preparing side dishes or cooking for 1 or 2 people, the 3L mini is the Duo for you. For families up to 5, go for the 5.7L (our most popular model!), and for larger families, parties, or full-week meal prep, the big 8L is the smart choice. An affordable Instant Pot best suited for beginners

If you’re after a simple, no-fuss multicooker, the Instant Pot Duo Nova is a good option for beginners. If you have a large family, the 10-quart capacity is perfect for cooking up a storm, although you still have the smaller options to suit your needs. These buttons are designed for specific ingredients or dishes and require frequent consultation with the manual to decide which cooking level (less, normal, or more) must be used. For example, it’s not recommended to cook brown rice with the rice program. Instead, it works best with the Multigrain program, which adds a soaking period to the cook time. The soup button is designed to bring the contents to pressure slowly, resulting in clearer soups. And as we said before, the steam button brings the contents to pressure fast.
